Gunslingers and Gladstone

Tue Jun 23, 2009, 8:16 AM
So, I started writing out everything I knew about Jesse... it's currently at two pages and climbing, which is somewhat longer than originally intended but meh.

Warning, Spoilers Ahead for Gunslinger Girl - Il Teriano

Anyway, Gunslinger Girl... it needs more montage. Seriously, when Triela was gearing up to take on Pino the second time around there should have been a montage =P

That said: great series. The first season was probably the better in terms of atmosphere etc, but the second got extra points for the excess of Classic Italian Metal charging around the screen. The 101 series Gulietta Spider (appeared in the first series too I think) and 1750 GTV used by Franco and Fancesca were particularly cool, with the 'Grale coming a close second.

Speaking of Italian metal, spent the last few days getting the Alfetta prepped for her trip north [link] . It's just the general maintinence stuff that needed doing, but it was nice to get back into the garage again. Plugs and points (well, plugs, the Alfetta's distributor's breakerless), oil changes, find that GODDAMN RATTLE. Stuff that needed doing before driving to Gladstone on friday. Also, at the parents' bidding, got a new set of tyres. Switched from the Yoko C.Drives (mildly performance tyre) to A.Drives (stock road tyre), simply because the C.Drive doesn't come in the right sizing for the car. Experience says the reduction in rolling radius is just enough to take the ride height from "impractical" to "annoying impractical". So it's back to 195/65/R14s, besides, they fill out the wheel arches more and look more period for the car. So far, wet grip's back up (understandable, I have tread again), but dry grip is defs down.

Anyway, all that's left to do now is wash, wax and polish.

In other news, I'm trying to work out if it's worth renewing my sub or not.

There was something else I was going to say, but I've forgotten what it was.

  • Mood: Tired
  • Listening to: Jouney of the Sorcerer (H2G2 radio theme)
  • Reading: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
  • Watching: Gunslinger Girl
  • Playing: Photoshop
  • Eating: Leftovers
  • Drinking: Campos

Haha, sounds like you've got everything sorted then. I swear I need to learn more about cars too. All that technical mumbo jumbo tends to make me look dull-faced at times. =P

A foolish one only dwells on burying them with it.

"Seriously, when Triela was gearing up to take on Pino the second time around there should have been a montage"

They needed to: show lots of things / happening at once / reminding everyone of what's going on / and with every shot / show a little improvement / to show it all would take too long, aye?

cheers

Hope you will have fun when you get there.

I need to check out that motah when I'm in town some time. You've told me about it but I need to see it. Maybe if I drive up again at some point we should go driving and shooting... ;)

If you have the money renew it! I wish I could renew mine but we're having to save up to pay car insurance. (we pay 6 months at a time) and then we have to save to pay our house insurance... so... I don't know when I'll be able to.

So if you can afford it, do it! I personally think it's worth it. Journals are sooooo unattractive without it.

Eh, it's nice to know, but probably not necassary in this day and age =P

...exactly, preferably with "Eye of the Tiger" going in the background... or considering she's a cyborg maybe something from Ironman =P

Ok, so actually I just find montages entertaining.

Totally. I don't like my chances of doing anything during semester, but if you're up during the holidays it'd be sweet.

Hmm, might see how I'm going after this Gladstone trip then make decisions.

Nope. They're having to bring it in from another library for me. I'm on Feet of Clay atm. And Wee Free Men, though a younger reader, was friggin hilarious! Nac Mac Feegle rock. =D

'Maurice' was pretty good. About to start on 'Wee Free Men'. Missing the more adult leveled humor of the others, though. :)
