...you know what to dooooo: Call iKell!
Because he works for QUT printing services and can therefore get your shit printed, directly, for free, in colour... thereby circumventing the half hour it took today to log onto the university intraweb because the Build Environment and Engineering faculty server was fucked. BEE, which the school of design comes under. To quote Dennis: the university has reached critical mass! and you know what happens when thing reach critical mass? THEY BREAK! Implode. Crumble under the weight of their own growth. Forty minutes, FORTY, that's how long it took me to log onto the QUT network today and get it to open up windows exporer... which promptly crashed, and when I say "promptly" I mean "After five minutes of nothing, because it couldn't find the network drive. That was the end of a process which turned a fast "in-print-submit-out" trip into a three hour ordeal. That was the third computer I'd tried too. The first was a 15 minute express station, I wasn't going to be there long of course... an express station that TIMED OUT before it could finish logging in. So tried the F-block lab, but after 20mins a class started and I had to leave. So back to the library, talked to one of the IT guys, found out there was a problem with the BEE log in. That's cool, I didn't have anywhere to go in a hurry, I had music and a sketch pad. Since I was going to be there awhile I nabbed one of the low set computers with an arm-chair instead of a work chair and settled back. I was cool to wait, bit annoying but cool... then the goddamn computer crashed after the afore-mentioned forty minutes. Well no fucking way I was going to wait a second time, so I called iKell for help.
Anyway, long story short: got him to print it, submitted the document to Vesna's pigeon hole and went to have lunch in town. Wasn't going to do that, but since it was freakin' lunch time ANYWAY, I may as well use the money I saved on printing to get it. Open message to QUT now: SORT YOUR SHIT. And while your at it: do something about the figgin' D-block labs! It's the design labs, they have to run CAD and the Adobe Creative Suite, but they're the oldest computers in the university by at least 2 years, how do you expect them to work properly!? If you'd load the printer drivers on there at the same time that'd be peachy as well. Sometimes I really wonder where my money goes.
Ok, </rant>
So, in other news: whilst working on said document last night I downloaded the first episode of K-ON! Looks pretty good, with Kyoani continuing with their usual high production values. They do however seem to be setting a starndard of loud club leaders wearing yellow headbands/ribbon things.
For some reason I also can't help but thing the main character is very Ghibli is some of her traits, particularly the way her short hair floats when she's happy. Pretty good series though, will be watching more.
Oh, and there's valve driven audio gear in it... so totally sold there.

I love the chocolate holiday, so much dark chocolate all in one place... now if they could just invent a coffee holiday as well the year would be perfect.
