Verticality by wraith11 Verticality by wraith11
Nat's back in action, engaged in a vertical battle in a stairwell that looks like it may have been designed by M.C. Escher. Hanging by her knees while the enemy blazes away from above.

Pretty happy with the way this turned out. I should hope so too, this was the second attempt. Had to throw the first one away after I tore up the surface of the paper with the rubber trying to get Nat's pose even SLIGHTLY correct. Enemy has AK-74Us. Nat is yet again armed with a badly drawn P90 as well as a Maghook, borrowed from Matthew Reilly. Hope he doesn't mind.

Ah well, crits, comments and chocolate welcome as always.

Have fun

Wraith 11

EDIT: Coloured version now avaliable at ---> [link] Many, many thanks to for the colouring job. How kick-arse does it look? I feel inferior.

Yeah, she was meant to be hanging from the banister supports. But as per usual I managed to screw it sideways and mess up the pose. So it's kind of hard to tell :P

Vertigo: Not the previously thought fear of heights but rather the indescribable urge to throw one's self off them.

One word to say about this one: shaweeet!

Firstly great work indeed, gotta say that the perspective is absolutely great. Though I had hard time to figure it out at first, hehe. Reminds me almost instantly music: The Rasmus - F-F-F-Falling. Bweh :D

What do ya mean badly drawn P-90 and maghook? If you can instantly regonize them, then you've had done them well. I sure did!

Nat's pose was the trickyest one I presume, It sure as hell looks like it. You've got it quite right, 'cause when shootin' and falling there's not many "stable" poses for that... though you could do matrix style on 'em. But that's history about now.

I'd wish there could be more shading with it, it was hard to see what was vertical and wat was horizontal on there... too lighty.

GREAT work, nuff said'

Overall: 9/10

Actually, I was listening to Hyperblast-Redux from UT-2004 and Shaft Drive while drawing it.
Yeah, Nat's pose was the trickiest. That's the damn problem, most of the cool looking poses are really hard to draw. And yeah, I should probably learn to shade darker. Problem is I only really use light pencils, mainly 'cause I can't stand smudeing.

Glad you like it, and thanks for the comment.

ONLY TWO ATTEMPTS?

You're amazing! You're fucking amazing!

The perspective here is spectacular, and the spatial, concrete feeling of these objects actually existing in 3D is very very present. As for your composition, the flow and feel of movement is almost overwhelmingly powerful.

Do you have a higher quality (resolution) scan of this? I'd like to take a crack at coloring it for you!

Wow, thanks mate! High praise indeed! :P

Yeah, I got a the 300dpi version that I originally scanned. If you note me your email address I'll try and send it to you sometime over the weekend. Kinda gotta run at the moment. I would be honoured for you to colour it.

Thanks again, 'specially for the fav.

Can anyone say 'The Matrix'???

True that on the M.C. Escher comment. Really nice pic. Love the perspective, and the P90 will always be at the top of my list in the 'guns that totally kick ass' stakes...closely followed, of course, by the M-4.

Did you see Stargate last night??? Fucking awesome.

Guns that look totally kickass? Try the WA2000. A bullpup Sniper Rifle. [link] Like the P90 but... well, a rifle.
