Ok, personality wise I swear these two were separated at birth...
...at least as far as the mech fixation and the estimation of their own skills in aforesaid mechs goes.

So, Gai Daigoji from Martian Successor Nadesico and Midget, from the B.A.D. Most will know Midget by now, as for Gai (pronounced "Guy": the only mech pilot to arrive three days early for work just 'cause he'd get to fly giant robots. Over the top anime otaku totally obsessed with Gekiganger 3. He may not last long but he's gotta be the best character in the series. Actually, his name's Jiro Yamada, which is apparently the Japanese equivalent of being called "John Smith", so he changed it... at least as far as telling everyone his name's Gai... officially it's still Jiro.

Random tech - "Uhh, Mr. Yamada's asking for something..."
Seiya Uribatake (crew chief) - "If he's not gonna listen to me, I'm not gonna listen to him."
Gai - "Uhh, send out the Space Genger Heavy Armaments Module please."
Seiya - "You can ask all you like but the Nadesico ain't got any of these Genger-Giki things!"

As for Hardy, the last thing she needs is another Midget-esque personality running around the place. Ya gotta feel sorry for the lady, she really does put up with a lot of shit.

Ok, for some reason right now I just can't FINISH a damn thing. Got about 8-10 drawings all in various stages of completion. Hopefully doing something quick and simple will get me back in the groove... hopefully.

Anyways, have fun all

Well, since you can't exactly bring it over atm, I guess I'll go rent it from Shotokan and be done with it. You make it sound appealing. =P

Take care, mate. Get well soon!

Gai is the funniest character in Nadesico.

Unfortunately, he dies after a few episodes. It was a ridiculous death, not the way he would like to die, that is, to die like a hero. He died as a normal person who was hit by a pistol shot. That was unexpected for most people who are used with heroic characters.

That's no matter if you're the strongest or the bravest man on Earth. Someday, somewhere, you'll meet your inevitable fate.

After all, we are only humans..."

Ha ha, great. Love Hardy's line, as well.

HACKER: You sure? I have mechanical lungs thanks to the cyber implants, so I don't need to rest. But thanks for noticing!

Start calling him Gai =P

Yes, is awsome.

It is a pity he didn't last very long. But I guess he really sets the flavor of the series.
