Yes, more Voltron ... can we all take a moment to appreciate how hard Allura is?

I really like the implementation of Allura in Legendary Defender, and it wouldn't be much of a stretch to say she's probably my favourite character. There is a tendency sometimes, particularly when attempting to create "strong" female characters, for that "strength/badassery/whatever" to not quite gel with the character, to feel pasted on, as it were. Worse, perhaps, are the times when a character is ostensibly in command, but someone else is making all the decisions. I wasn't getting any of that off Allura: it's pretty obvious who's in charge here. She gets final say in what's happening and, when she does do something badass (say, jumping into the middle of a firefight... from orbit), the character slips so easily into that action that it doesn't even click until ten minutes later and you realise "hold on, that was awesome".

Or, at least that was the frame of mind I found myself in.

Allura is (c) Dreamworks and Netflix.

Finally checked out the first set of DVD's covering Seasons 1 & 2.  Now I understand why some DA artist have shone Pidge as either male of female.  With "Some Assembly Required" (I beileve), where they finally explain how the sister became a cadet at the Academy as Pidge Gunnderson.

And this piece of yours of Allura commanding the castle ship from "Rebirth" touches her serious side in the program.

What other works has Dreamworks Animation done, as the style of hand drawn people superimposed over CGI background is far better than the original hand-drawn series.  And how they imposed those silly expressions on everybody's, except Shirow's, faces.
