Artist's Comments

"...Every lap I've faithfully radioed Fabio to say that I'm entering the Nordschleife, as our radio signal fades soon after. Every lap he's replied with a simple, short 'OK.OK.' At night, his voice becomes a lifeline, one final piece of reassureance before plunging into the turmoil. I notice that with the darkness has come an addition to his message: 'OK. OK. Take care Richard.' I feel like an Apollo astronaut passing around the dark side of the moon...

...Jaques is right, the lights are terrible. Imagine driving along a hilly country lane at 120mph with only your sidelights on and you'll have some idea of what it's like. I feel like a blind man who's lost his guide dog.

At Hohe Acht, the highest part of the circuit, the crowd is partying. Smoke hangs in the air like a thick fog infused with the smell fo sizzling sausages. Flash guns pop in the darkness, airhorns honk, music thumps. I can even hear the inebriated bray of drunken German fans. I'm petrified of breaking down out here, for the crowd are a primitive bunch, stripped to the waist, sunburnt and fuelled on potent larger. It's like a zoo. No, strike that. It's like Jurassic Park..."

Richard Meaden - EVO Magazine

A quick salute to one of the best bits of motoring writing, hell just writing in general, that I've read. Richard Meaden of EVO (hence "fanart") recounting his experiences after being asked to drive for the Maserati Works R&D team at the ADAC Nurburgring 24 hour race. A truly awsome bit of writing. If anyone's interested the article's called "The Edge of Reason" and is in edition 094 of EVO UK.

Done up (on and off, between uni-work) over the last two days. Still having trouble with this Digital art thing, so it's no where near what I envisaged. Back to pencil and paper after this for a bit I think.

Anyways, Crits? Comments? Chocolate?

P.S. - Those who have asked me to draw stuff: I'll be starting when uni finishes, when I can just sit down and put some time into the pictures so you won't end up with half-arsed rush-jobs like this one.

Yeah, you wouldn't really credit it... but EVO's pretty good. Their photographers are awsome as well.

Yep, half-arsed... it's a good thing it's all dark so you can't see all the holes in the colouring for starters ;)

Sweet Jesus that's good. I could've sworn the small version was lifted out of a damned videogame. To be honest, the flames are just scribbles.

Cheers and :beer:s.

Are those B.A.D. members partying by the fire!? I'd hate to be their designated driver. :D

Yet another brilliant artwork by your hand Wraith....I like how you did the lighting around the headlights and the fires...
...Two thumbs up!

As I see in life, there are four types of people; *Optimists - 'The glass is half full...' *Pessimists - 'The glass is half empty...' *Opportunists - 'The glass will be empty when I'm finished with it...' *Realists - 'Either way, I'm stuck washing up...'

Thanks mate... yep, flames are just scribbles. Couldn't figure out a more stylish way of doing them :P

Yep, those be B.A.D members. No DD, that's what tents are for :D

Thanks mate.
The lighting was a bit of hit and miss actually, just playing around till something somewhat respectible appeared :P
