Hardy's Heros

I think Wes is about to loose an arm... take your pick as to which one.

Anyways, a quickly updated version of the old 1st B.A.D height chart [link] Unfortunately I couldn't think of a way to neatly fit the pilots in so they may get their own one.

WARNING: Craploads of writing ahead, I'll try and keep it as concise as possible.

So, from left to right:

Col. Rachel HARDON Hardy
Age: 27
Role: Unit CO
Rachel Hardy is the 1st Bi-pedal Armored Division's rather unfortunate commanding officer. An ex special-forces chopper pilot she cut her teeth flying Aussie SAS troops deep into God-Knows-Where. Got command of the B.A.D though simply 'cause her name was the next on the list, and 'cause helicopters were considered the closes thing to the mechs the unit would be operating. If not the hottest stick in a BWP-20 she is an good tactician and an excellent scrounger, important in a unit that still lacks a LOGO or any other real support staff.

In her free time.... well, Hardy doesn't really get any, she's married to the job.


Cpt. WES Wade
Age: 20
Role: Executive Officer and Unit Diplomat (internal)
Wes is the B.A.D's second in command, a roll he sees basically as taking care of the day-to-day running of the unit whilst the commander gets on with doing commandery things. As such he gives Hardy someone to bounce ideas off'f and acts as a sort of buffer between her and the rest of the ranks... and vice versa.

Wes is an ok fighter and shot but would prefer to try and talk his way out of situations. He is however a damn good driver and car geek. As such, for missions requiring less firepower and longer time on target, he shuns the mech cockpit instead running support with Nat and Smash as driver in the ASLAV. In his free time Wes can be found either on the couch watching Anime (massive geek) or in the garage tinkering. Shares an off-base house with Nat and Midget.

Lt. Natalie NAT Boone
Age: 19
Role: Unit arse-kicker
Nat's the unit muscle and default third in the officer hierarchy. Seems to have a natural talent for hitting things very hard. She's a brilliant fighter and a crack shot, her mech piloting is probably slightly above average, but only just, it's kinda hard to tell when there's still only four operational machines. When only a two machine formation is required she instead joins Wes in the ASLAV as gunner.

Nat's generally a pretty chilled person, you'd really have to be working to piss her off properly. In her free time she can usually be found on the couch watching TV (not cartoons or anime though, which puts her at odds with her house mates), reading a mag or lending Wes a hand in the garage. She can work on cars, but isn't the sort of person to go rushing out just to tinker for fun... so car maintenance usually falls to Wes.


Spr. SMASH Tomkins
Age: 21
Role: Sapper...
...that's Combat Engineer to you. Brought on board for when the B.A.D needs go build bridges, or remove bridges or build THEN remove bridges. Smash has one up on the rest of the group by actually having attended university (not finish, just attend), good with explosives and using small amounts of said explosives for maximum effect. For missions where he's needed he can be found in the back of the ASLAV, or crouched by some piece of concrete somewhere with a big grin on his face.

In his free time Smash can be found on the couch watching his massive collection of DVDs.


Lt MIDGET Senghaas
Age: 20
Role: Psychopath
Because every unit needs at least one. Wes's mate from highschool, recruited into the B.A.D for security purposes after he wandered into Wes's apartment at an inopportune moment, not that he really minds... Midget LIKES killing people, blowing stuff up and being allowed to play with toys he'd never even see in civilian (or even regular military) life. He's an ex-chef and really shouldn't be trusted with sharp objects, which are quite hard to keep away from him seeing as he does most of the cooking around the joint. He's also the unit's best Mech pilot, which is mildly annoying seeing as the vast majority of his training came in the form of Armored Core or Mech Warrior, but he just seems to have a knack for these things. Tactics however, aren't really his strong point.

Midget spends most of his time off in his room playing MMORPGs, occasionally coming out to get more beer, cook something or watch Anime.


So there it is, basic summary of the dirt-side combat contingent of the B.A.D. There is of course the air-wing (all two of them) and the whole maintenance support staff, but they'll have to wait for another date.

Damn, I've spent fucking ages on this. Not though expending any inordinate amount of effort (I'm actually kinda disappointed with the way it came out), but simply by the fact that I've had no time to work on it.
