GOLDING Reception Re-Design

Actually a project that was finished in November... but then christmas decorations got put up so I only got around to photographing it yesterday.

Anyway, probably my first foray into actual paid design work. Golding [link] changed offices last year. The place they moved to however was never designed to have a reception, just somewhere to tell you where you were after getting out of the lift. Getting the job to do something new was basically a case of being in the right place at the right time and going "there is no-way you're going to be able to put a functioning reception in that space".

Went through a pretty steep learning curve going from purely academic design at uni to to the real thing. It's not really anything way out there but one part of that curve was learning that it's far harder to convice people who are actually throwing money behind you that your ideas are good ones than it is to convice lecturers. I could rattle on about some of the design decisions, but since 99.9% of people here probably aren't particularly interested...
